Theodore Caperton (Ted) Ball, of Westerville, age 90, passed away February 9, 2022. Born in Logan, West Virginia on September 14, 1931, Ted had been a resident of Westerville since 1963. He was the son of Luther Wetzel, Sr. and Era Olga (Brown) Ball. Preceded in death (January 20, 2022) by his wife of 68 years, Carolyn (Orders) Ball, he leaves behind his loving family four children daughter Miriam Hickman (husband David Hickman); son Allan Ball (wife Donna Bowshier Ball); son Steven Ball (wife Mary Frances Ball); and daughter Karen Koger (Chip Koger). He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Shannon Ball (husband Ben Ebenezer); Kevin Ball (wife Ally Ball); Kate Ball (husband Jack Stenger); Olivia Ball (fiancee Matt Iammarino); Andrea Ball (partner Rafael Garcia); and great grandson Liam Allan Ebenezer. He is survived by sister, Nada Ball. Preceded in death by brother Luther Wetzel Ball, Jr.; brother Homer Ralph Ball, and his wife Marianne Ball; and sister Olga Yarrington, (husband Bob Yarrington), and brother-in-law Richard Orders (wife Grace). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Ted graduated from the Ohio State school of law in 1954, Order of the Coif. He married Carolyn on September 20, 1953, a nursing school student whom he met at the Ohio State University. Ted was an ROTC student and served in the US Army (Fort Knox Tank Corp) as a second lieutenant after college in 1954. Ted was an attorney, starting in the firm of James M. Hengst, and then taking over the practice upon Hengsts retirement. He practiced law for 63 years in downtown Columbus and then later in the little house in Westerville, with Carolyn as his secretary. Ted provided exceptional legal services and was an outstanding and knowledgeable lawyer. Numerous fellow lawyers benefited from his intellect and experience. Ted was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved the outdoors and working outside on his large property. You could often find Ted in his work clothes out on the land, mowing and maintaining his property in Westerville. Ted had an excellent sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or pun. He and Carolyn had a true love story marriage, working together, and devoted to and caring for each other during their entire lives. Both were life-long Buckeye fans. Teds faith was an integral and primary part of his life. He and Carolyn were members of Pleasant Hill Old Regular Primitive Baptist church in Urbana, Ohio. Ted was one of a kindsmart, artistic, philanthropic, and honestwith true integrity permeating his character. Ted was empathetic and truly cared about peoplehe and Carolyn always showed up. Although he will be greatly missed by his family, we are comforted to know that he and Carolyn are together again. The family would like to thank his caregivers, especially Beckie, Kimlin, Ashley, Kumba, Tiffani, and numerous others. Family will receive friends between 10 am and 12 pm on Friday, February 18, at Moreland Funeral Home, Westerville with a church service immediately following at Moreland.
