This advertisement for Choplets appeared in Health and Life magazine in 1947. James L. Hagle, who became business manager for the company in 1941 sought to expand the Worthington Foods market through advertisements in health food magazines such as Health and Health and Life, in addition to direct mail. Choplets are a meat analog product made of wheat grains and other vegetable nutrients. In the 1940s new products were taste tested at Wortington Foods board meetings and when this product was first developed the name Choplets was suggested by twelve year old George Harding IV, whose father Dr. George Harding III was a board member. Choplets quickly became a successful product and were featured on the menus of dining establishments such as the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, Stouffer's and on Pennsylvania Railroad dining cars in the 1940s.
