Frank Ellsworth White, long time resident of Worthington, passed away peacefully at his home in Dublin surrounded by his family on January 10, 2023.

He was born in Parkersburg, WV on May 27, 1931, to Lawrence C. and Ora M. (Hupp) White. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by June, his wife of nearly 65 years, their children: Wendy Vanbuskirk, Orlando, FL; Ann Zanon (Ray), Columbus, OH; Larry White, Rincon, Puerto Rico; Jill Dean (Jeff), Lewis Center, OH; and Randy White, Westerville, OH ; 9 Grandchildren: Austin Vanbuskirk (Sara), Ryan Vanbuskirk (Jennifer), David Zanon, Jarrod Zanon, Julie Zanon, Emily White, Lydia White, Abigail Dean, Joe Dean, and Great Granddaughters: Avery June Vanbuskirk, Emily Vanbuskirk and Naomi Zanon; Brother and Sister- in-law, Bruce and Sue White, Sister-in-law, Louise Ford, Sister-in-law Bonnie Deaner (Frank) and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by Navy buddy Frank Walker and his wife, Ann.

Frank will be fondly remembered by fellow Friendship Village of Dublin residents and staff, and a multitude of friends made throughout their many years in Worthington. Frank never met a stranger and welcomed many into their home. While involved in the Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club he mentored several college students, one of whom has become like family, Kazuomi Shiozawa (Sophia, Willie, and Kellie). Frank was a four-year Veteran of the US Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was privileged to have participated in the Honor Flight in September 2019. He graduated from Parkersburg High School, then attended the University of North Dakota where he became a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. Following his service in the Navy he completed his B.S. Degree from Bowling Green State University, where he met, June, the love of his life.

In 1969, he received his J.D. from the Nashville School of Law. He was a 50-year member of Mt. Olivet Lodge No. 3, AF & AM Masons in Parkersburg, Aladdin Temple Shrine, and American Legion Post 239, Worthington. Frank was a 12-year member of Worthington Cardinal Boosters, having served as President in 1980-81. He was instrumental in establishing the youth soccer program in Worthington and coached soccer for many seasons. He was active in Boy Scouts with his sons and participated in scouts as a boy. He retired from The Wyatt Company in 1996 which gave him more time to participate in volunteer activities. He especially enjoyed volunteering in June’s classroom teaching children to write stories on the computer. He was an active participant in several Worthington School initiatives. He was honored with the prestigious Worthington Leadership for a Lifetime Award in 1996. He was an active member of the Dublin-Worthington Rotary Club and was named Rotarian of the year in 1993-94. He was an Honorary Member of the Rotary Club Santiago de Los Caballeros, Santiago, Dominican Republic, where he traveled several times to work on hands-on service projects establishing safe drinking water for the island.

He served as Chairman of the Dublin- Worthington Rotary Club Foundation for sixteen years. He loved all kinds of music, especially old hymns, classical, and jazz and he was a longtime supporter of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. As a young man, he played the piano, organ, clarinet, violin and he sang in the PHS Choir. He especially enjoyed playing old hymns from his mother’s hymnal on the piano. He attended Grace Polaris Church and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior. The family will receive friends at Schoedinger Worthington, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, on Tuesday January 17 from 1-3:00PM with the funeral service at 3:00PM, Pastor Tim Waggoner officiating. Funeral services will also be live streamed.
