Glen H. Thomas, age 141 (just kidding) really age 78, at home in Worthington, Thursday, September 30th from too much wear and tear. Proceeded in death by mother and father Freda Toedtoman Thomas and father Herbert Thomas, wife Claire B. Thomas and beloved dog Gilbert. Survived by daughter, Christie (Jeff) Peters; granddaughter, Olivia C. Peters of Worthington; son, Craig Thomas of Taiwan; and many loving cousins. Glen was born in Dayton, Ohio and graduated from Wilber Wright High School as a member of the National Honor Society. He spent 2.5 years in the US Navy, assigned to LST 279 and LSM 555 as an Electronic Technician's Mate 3/C. He received a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering with several graduate course credits and was a member of Eta Kappa Nu and the EE Honor Society (and a proud ;member of MU MU MU). During his career he worked with Sylvania Electric, Bell Sound Systems and stayed with IRD Mechanalysis to retirement from 1956-1988 where his succeeding titles were Research Director, Chief Engineer, Engineering Manager, VP Engineering, VP General Manager, Executive VP, President and CEO and Corporate VP of HH Robertson Co. His job took him around the world setting up sales, service and agents. All in all he had seen 44 different countries. He received the "E" award from the US Department of Commerce for Outstanding Achievements in Exporting US manufactured products. He was a member of the AASA/ISO Standards Organization. He received 24 different patents, most notable a relay satellite displayed in the Smithsonian Institute. He recently received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in OSU in 1997. Glen was also an accomplished golfer and swimmer who loved all sports. He was a long-time OSU fan & member of the Presidents Club, Buckeye & Faculty Club. He was also a member of York Temple Gold Club, Scioto Country Club and a long-time supporter of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. He had a great sense of humor and a very generous heart. He also had a great sense of fairness and honor. He was a true Gentleman. During his "Golden Years" he cared for his family, and one of the few enjoyments was fine dining. He befriended many a waitress. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington with Morgan Espe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Donations maybe made to the Golden Endings at 2215 S. State Route 257, Ostrander, Ohio 43061.
