THOMAS Claire B. Thomas, age 77, of Worthington, died Monday, February 24, 2003 at Wesley Ridge Health Care Center in Reynoldsburg of Alzheimer's disease. She was a homemaker who loved her family and enjoyed special holidays like Christmas. She was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Minnie Briese. Her survivors include her husband of 50 years, Glen; children, Christie (Jeff) Peters of Worthington and Craig (Mavis) Thomas of Taiwan; one granddaughter, Olivia Claire Peters; sister, Jewell (Reid) Hausmann of NJ; nephews, David, Clay (Christie) and Andrew Hausmann; great-nephew, Boden Hausmann; other relatives, friends and her golden retriever, Gilbert. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist. She was a graduate of West Liberty State College School of Music and she was avid Ohio State Buckeyes Fan, especially Fred Taylor's Basketball Teams. Claire was also a lifetime patron of the arts and a member of the Women's Association of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra where she served as President from 1976-78. She was a founding and lifetime member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra League and a Past President of the Beaux Arts in 1969-70. She also served in the effort to save the Ohio Theatre and in 1990 she served as a Recital Chairman of the CSOL and was responsible for "Adventures in Good Music" featuring Karl Haas, which earned her the volunteer of the year award. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will be held at Flint Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Ridge Special Care Endowment Fund, 2225 Route 256, Reynoldsburg, Oh. 43068, or Golden Endings at www.goldenendings.org or the Columbus Symphony at www.columbussymphony.com. Claire will always be remembered as a refined lady who always had a smile and a giggle for everyone.
