LAZAR Betty J. Lazar, age 83, passed away, Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at her residence in Worthington, Ohio. Betty was born November 27, 1926, in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Isadore and Nessa Papermaster. A graduate of Morehead Teachers College, she taught school in Seattle, Washington for one year then came to Chicago where she met her husband Ted. They were married on July 6, 1952. Betty taught English as a second language to immigrant children and adults. She was a wonderful mother and a dedicated volunteer. Among her many civic contributions, she raised funds for the Columbus Symphony Orchestra through the women's support group, and was a founding member of the Worthington-Westerville Jewish Women's group. Betty will be missed greatly by her family and friends. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mimi Cooper and Libby Starekow. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Ted to whom she was married for 58 years; children, Dr. Paul A. Lazar (Sue Kirby), Mark D. Lazar (Sharon) and Nancy Epstein (Les); grandchildren, Jessica, Zoe, Emma, Sam, Sarah; and sister, Judy Pollak. Funeral service will be Monday, September 27, 2010, 1 p.m. at RODMAN FUNERAL SERVICE, 5464 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio, 43214 with Rabbi Howard L. Apothaker officiating and visitation will be from 10 a.m. till time of service. Interment will be at Flint Cemetery.
