HAZELWOOD Winnona Madeleine Hazelwood, "Gram, Nonie, Gram Nono," age 94, of Columbus, passed away on October 24, 2008. Born in Coffeyville, KS in 1913, Winnona was 1 of 13 children from a close-knit and loving family. She lived a very full and happy life. She was spunky and wise, and the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother any family could ever wish for. As a single mom, she worked hard to provide well for her children, eventually retiring from Prudential Insurance in 1973. She moved to Columbus in 1981 with her daughter and spent her retired years in her slippers watching Nashville Network and Larry King, baking cakes and cookies and reading Reader's Digest. She loved animals, country music, crossword puzzles, coffee and apple fritters, sewing, carnival glass, baking, fishing and Buckeye Football. She had a very strong will and an admirable stubbornness, a great sense of humor and an amazing love for her family! She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Lee Lambert of Columbus; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sue Hazelwood of San Ramon, CA; 5 grandchildren, Marnie, Davin, Erin, Jennifer and Daniel; 4 great-grandchildren, Davin Jr., Drew, Abby and Jonah; and MANY other dear friends that loved her as their own Grandma. A private burial will be held on Thursday with a Memorial Service for family and friends to follow at Worthington Hills Country Club (920 Clubview Blvd South, Columbus) at 6 p.m.
