Judy, who was born in Manchester, New Hampshire on May 10, 1937, passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long fight with dementia. A fighter until the end, Judy is survived by her sons, Mike, Sean and Bob; and six loving grandchildren. Judy is preceded in death by her father Richard, mother Dorothy and brothers Tom and Dick. After receiving her bachelor's degree from St. Mary's college in New Hampshire, Judy traveled across the country to attend Arizona State University where receive her master's degree in Microbiology. At the urging of a mutual family friend, Judy was introduced to her future husband of 52 years, Joseph Hart. Despite growing up no more than 30 miles apart in New Hampshire, Judy and Joe did not meet until she was residing in Phoenix and Joe in Omaha. Married in 1962, Joe and Judy first lived in Omaha, then moved to Des Moines before finally settling in Worthington where Joe and Judy would raise three sons and be active members of the Worthington community. A resident of Brookside Estates, Judy cherished the friendships she made with fellow Brookside residents Pat, Charlotte, Diana and Sandy who would become known to friends and family as The Birthday Girls. Friends to the end, Judy's family can never adequately thank The Birthday Girls for their friendship and caring that spanned over 40 years. Judy is also preceded in death by her great friend Joan Oelgoetz. Joan and Judy first met as fellow Worthington sports parents in the early 1980s and developed a wonderful friendship that lasted almost 30 years until Joan's passing in 2011. Judy was employed for over thirty years by The Ohio State University, working in a variety of laboratory research roles as a microbiologist and lab manager. Judy enjoyed her work at OSU and regularly attended Ohio State football games with her family and friends. Judy was also an avid walker, tennis player and perhaps the greatest family room Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy players you have ever met. She also enjoyed mastering crossword puzzles and Sudoku and consistently amazed her sons and their friends with her brilliance. Judy was a devoted member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, which she attended from its opening until she was no longer able to attend due to health reasons. Dementia took so much from Judy, but it never took away her will to fight. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but all rejoice in the knowledge that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with her husband Joe who has been patiently waiting at the Gates of Heaven. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 6899 Smoky Row Road, Columbus, Ohio 43235 followed by a Funeral Mass.
