Lynne Ellen Gething, 68, of Columbus, Ohio lost her battle with brain cancer on October 25, 2016. She was born February 6, 1948 to the late Fred and Kay Gething. She was the oldest of three girls born in Youngstown, Ohio.

She graduated from Boardman High School in 1966. She then continued her education at Bowling Green State University and later received a Bachelors of Arts from Youngstown State University and a Masters in Accounting from The Ohio State University. Lynne worked for multiple companies throughout her lifetime allowing her to travel to many states. She started with Combustion Engineering in Cleveland, OH and Valley Forge, PA. Next she started working for Mediscus in Akron, OH, then LB Manufacturing in Mt. Vernon, OH, and Harding Machine Company in West Liberty, OH. Then Lynne moved to Columbus, OH where she worked for Sarcom, AVV, and finally retired from Xerox. Lynne’s greatest hobbies were reading books, gardening, and baking Christmas cookies every year. She was a season ticket holder with the Crew Soccer team starting in 1999 and continued until her death. Lynne is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Kathryn Gething. She is survived by her younger sister Debbe Mayo; Debbe’s children, Amanda Jones (Randy) and Mathew Mayo, and two great nephews, Skylar and Chase Jones. Lynne is also survived by her youngest sister Terry Lipinsky (David) and their children Brittany Heffernan (John) and David Michael Lipinsky. Lynne also leaves behind Aunt Joann and Uncle Bill Nagy and eleven cousins. A Funeral service will be held 9:30am Saturday October 29th at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of 270) where friends may call Friday October 28th from 2-4 and 6-8pm. . Burial will follow at Flint Cemetery.
