This is the program for the Worthington High School production of "Annie Get Your Gun." The play was presented on March 2, 3, 9, and 10, 1979.
The cover shows an ink drawing of a cowgirl standing in front of a fence and holding a gun propped on the ground next to her. At the top appears the title "Annie Get Your Gun" with "Presented by Worthington High School Music Dept." below. Beneath the drawing are the dates "March 2, 3 and 9, 10" and the words "Admission $2.00." The drawing is signed with the name "Ning." Written in the top right corner is "1978-1979." Page two lists the chorus; pages three and four list the synopsis of scenes; page five lists the orchestra; page six lists the stage crew, set construction, and sound; page seven lists lights, properties, costumes, and makeup; page eight lists programs, tickets, ushers, and publicity; pages nine and ten contain advertisements from local businesses; page eleven lists personal patrons; and page twelve contains another advertisement.
The production was directed by Bronwynn Hopton, who taught drama at Worthington High School/Thomas Worthington High School from 1973-2013. In 1988, she founded the Worthington High School Theatre Repertory. Countless alumni cite her influence for their love of theater, or even their professional success in the field. An October 24, 2010 "Columbus Dispatch" article quotes her as saying, "Theater is not just a superfluous after-school event, but something we study that deserves the same focus as science, math or history. " Her first name graces the Bronwynn Theatre at the McConnell Arts Center.
