This letter was written to Mrs. (Achsa) Johnson from a friend, "C.P." C.P. is writing to inform Mrs. Johnson that William has been associating with a female of questionable morals referred to only as C. L.. In the letter it is suggested that both C.P. and Achsa have had rather poor experiences with this girl; therefore, C.P. wanted to make it known that William has been seen with the "snake in the grass" but that it is not clear what his intentions are with her. It is unclear whether "William" refers to Achsa and Orange Johnson's son, William, or to Cousin William.
