New England Lodge No. 48, listed in this program of the Grand Lodge of Ohio F & AM's Centennial Celebration refers to the New England Lodge No. 4 of Worthington, Ohio. The Lodge was originally chartered by the Grand Lodge of Connecticut as No. 48 and continued to operate under that charter until January, 1808 when a convention was called to convene at Chillicothe in order to form a Grand Lodge of Ohio. Delegates from six Lodges convened in 1808, with James Kilbourn representing New England Lodge as Master Mason. Reference is made to a defect in the credentials of New England Lodge, refusing the delegates seats to the convention. The following year New England Lodge was requested to join with the other Lodges in the Grand Lodge and to send delegates to the next annual communication.
