The 1978 edition of the Worthington High School “Cardinal” yearbook features photos of students, faculty, activities, sports, social events and candid snapshots. Students in grades nine through twelve are featured in individual portrait photos. Dr. David P. Cavanaugh was principal. As explained on page 54, the school system had operated without a superintendent for much of the year until a May 1 announcement that Dr. Edward Lakey would take over as superintendent. During the interim, Earl Lane, assistant superintendent for instruction, had become the acting chief.
