Photograph of the Worthington Hills Water Tower Repainting with Workers Removing Tarp Rig, 2020 is a picture, with genre photograph.
It was created on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
Kara Reuter is the Photographer.
This photograph shows the water tower on the Worthington Hills Country Club property as it appeared on September 22, 2020 as its repainting is being wrapped up. The tower is freshly painted white. A tarp that had been staged around the top of the tower since late August has been removed, and workers are shown removing the rig that had held the tarp in place. The tarp had been lowered completely over the tower to contain dust during the sandblasting process before it was covered in primer and fresh paint. Click on the map in the lower right corner of this page to view other scrapbook entries showing the photographic progress of its repainting.
This tower supplies water to the Worthington Hills neighborhood, and is owned and maintained by Aqua Ohio. The tower has been repainted a couple of times since 2000, but in 2020 the company sandblasted the tower and added new primer and paint. The tower was likely built in the early 1970s, and replaced a water tank that stood at that spot when development of Worthington Hills began in the early 1960s. This type of water tower is known as a "pedesphere" or "golf ball and tee" tank.
