This photo shows the Olentangy River in January 1965 before the construction of State Route 315, which began in 1978 and was completed in 1980. Children often played in the woods surrounding the river. At that time, the river was much smaller, and froze in the winter so that people were able to cross it by foot and even ice skate on it.
