The Worthington Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) undertook a project in honor of the United States Bicentennial which included gifts of historic flags, a Bicentennial Charter Oak and a series of patriotic programs to the Worthington School District. Programs culminated in a dedication ceremony for the flags and tree on May 26, 1976, followed by a tea at the Harding Home (430 E. Granville Rd.) honoring special guests, State Regent Mrs. Merritt Huber and State Officers of the DAR. Pictured here are (back row l-r) Mary Virginia Harding, Mary Ellen Minton, Betty Lane, Jean Hurd, (front row l-r) Charline Neds, ?, Martha Berg, and Georgia Link. Mary Ellen Minton served as Bicentennial Chair for the local DAR chapter and Betty J. Lane (Regent) formally presented the gifts to the schools. Martha Berg was the organizing Chapter Regent of the Worthington DAR.
