Managed by the non-profit Swiminc organization, the pool opened to residents of the Worthington School District and measured 120 feet long and 50 feet wide, except for the diving bay area where it was 82 feet wide.
The smaller, lap pool to the south of it (the pool closest to the bottom of the photograph) was opened on June 22, 1958. Measuring 50 feet wide by 82.5 feet long, the new pool meant more swim hours for everybody, and accommodated swim team practices, adult swim and family swim events.
The north pool, visible at the top of the image next to the parking lot, was constructed in 1968.
