She was born to the late Richard and Emma Mae “Sally” Orthoefer in Columbus, Ohio on May 20, 1938. She was a 1956 Worthington High School graduate and received her bachelor's degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1960.
She married her high school sweetheart, the late William A. Guthery in July of 1961. Soon to be followed by daughter Beverly and son William R. They lived in Worthington Ohio for 38 years.
Gay moved to Powell in 2003. She is survived by sister Pamela (Tim) Conway, daughter, Beverly (Ed) Kready and son William R. (Roberta) Guthery. Grandsons Kyle (Ali), Brandon and Tyler Kready, and Grant and Ross Guthery.
Gay loved her grandsons. She treasured the time that she spent with them, especially when she took them on their 13th birthday trip.
Gay enjoyed relaxing outside on her porch with her dog Ginger. She was an avid reader and bridge player. She was always active with her many friends from the Worthington Christian Church and the Worthington Women's Club. Gay served as the church secretary for over 20 years and served as a president for the Worthington Women’s Club. She also loved traveling with her friends throughout Europe and the United States.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held at Worthington Christian Church, 8145 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, October 6. Calling hours will begin at 9:30am and the celebration service will follow at 11:00am. Internment will be at Walnut Grove. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to Worthington Christian Church Foundation.
