Ronald Elmer Dill, 94, of Worthington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou (Smith) Dill, his parents James Lynas and Lela (Fuller) Dill, and his brothers Robert, James, and twin Donald.
He entered life on May 22, 1924 in Worthington. He was born, grew up, and died on the same acreage near High Street and Lazelle Road, which was the family farm. Growing up, he worked on the farm and caddied at York Golf Club where he developed his love of playing golf. Ronald graduated from Worthington High School in 1942. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WW II in Africa and Europe. Upon his return from the war, he was a banker at Worthington Savings Bank where he met and later married Mary Lou Smith, also a Worthington native.
Ron was recruited into sales and was a very successful corrugated packaging salesman earning and servicing many local and national accounts. Since retirement, he has enjoyed playing golf, euchre and bridge, volunteering through the Kiwanis club, traveling, and caring for his family. He especially enjoyed his neighbors from Evening Street, where he and Mary Lou raised their children. He was a 27 year member of American Legion Leisure-Blackstone Post 239. Ronald was a member of the Worthington United Methodist Church.
Ronald is survived by his children, Carol Meehan, Nancy (Chuck) Curley, Linda (Mark) Egan and Ronald (Ann) Dill, grandchildren Ben(Christina) Meehan, Blair (Jim) Everett, Joe (Kristin) Meehan, Megan(Mike) Scherer, Luke (Michelle) Egan, George (Korena) Dill, Ian Dill, Carrie (Nathan) Walenga, Hannah Dill and 14 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Zara, Bronson, Rylee, Aidan, Patrick, and Kendall Meehan, Rowan and Griffin Everett, Grady and Delaney Egan, Liam and Payton Walenga, and Elliott Scherer. Ronald also has many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends at Rutherford Corbin, 515 North High Street in Worthington, Tuesday, December 18, 10:00-12:00. Funeral service will follow at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in his memory to Honor Flight at honorflightcolumbus.org
