This mechanical instrument, or music box, was used to provide music for ceremonies at New England Lodge No. 4. A music box plays tunes automatically. This particular music box employs cylinders. Pins protrude from the cylinders which strike metal teeth when rotated, producing notes. The pins are placed on each cylinder in patterns which play various melodies.
