The opening ceremonies of Worthington's Bicentennial honored the founding of Worthington, Ohio in 1803. The year long celebration kicked off with a Founders Day Festival, 2002. Guests honored during the opening ceremonies included descendants of Thomas Worthington, pictured here (left to right) Sara Worthington, Captain James T. Worthington, David Worthington, and W. Scott Worthington. Thomas Worthington (b. 1773, d. 1827) assisted James Kilbourn and the Scioto Company in locating land to settle the Village of Worthington, Ohio. It is believed that it is for him that Kilbourn named the Village.
