WILLIAMS Benjamin Hayden Williams Jr., age 87, of Columbus, joined his heavenly father on August 27, 2009. Proceeded in death by parents Benjamin H. Williams and Margaret Ethyl Grant Williams Glick, son Benjamin H. Williams II, aunts, uncles and cousins. Survived by children, Kenneth M. (Nancy), Colorado Springs, Colo., Camilla K., Sacramento, Calif., Nanette F. (William) Taylor, Columbus, Oh., Grant F. (Dianne), Columbus, Oh.; grandchildren, Lindsey, Laura, Deane, and Devin Williams, Bayly and Morgan Taylor, Catherine and Daniel Williams. Great Grandson Ryan and Colin (Laura Williams) Baxter. Graduate of Shaker Heights High School, 1940, attended St. Bonaventure College and The Ohio State University. Graduating from O.S.U. with D.D.S. 1946, and M.S. in Anatomy in 1949. Veteran of W.W.II as Captain in The Army Dental Corps. Research Fellow at University of Illinois 1949 to 1951 with M.S. in Orthodontics. Board Certified by American Board of Orthodontics. Practiced Orthodontics in Worthington 1951 to 1996. Taught in College of Dentistry 35 years, 1951 to 1986, rose in rank to Full Professor and became Professor Emeritus. Developed the Graduate Program for Orthodontics and was Chair of the Section of Orthodontics, 1960-1978, and Co-Chairman 1981-84. Advisor of numerous Masters Theses, author of scholastic and research papers and many publications. Lectured in the United States, China, Japan and Mexico. Staff member of Children's' Hospital and Dayton's V.A. Hospital. Board Member of the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps. Member of: College of Dentistry Alumni Association, OSU Alumni Foundation, Presidents Club, Research Foundation of the American Association of Orthodontics, University of Illinois Allen G. Brodie Institute for Orthodontics. Member of Columbus, Ohio, and American Dental Societies; Ohio Association of Orthodontics, Great Lakes Association of Orthodontics serving on Education Committee and Historian; American Association of Orthodontics serving on Council on Orthodontic Education and American Association of Orthodontics Foundation. Past President Midwest Edward Angle Society of Orthodontics, University of Illinois Orthodontic Alumni. European Orthodontic Society. World Federation of Orthodontists, The International Association of Dental Research. American Association of Dental Schools, Member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church; serving as a Stevens Minister, OSU Faculty Club; OSU Faculty Photographic Society; the Upper Arlington Photo Society. Helped initiate The O S U Orthodontic Alumni Foundation, Life Member and Past President, First Honoree OSU Orthodontic Alumni Association's Wall of Fame, an Endowed Chair in Orthodontics was named The Vig/Williams Endowed Chair. Served as Medical Technical Advisor for the Department of Human Services and Consultant for the Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps. His hobbies were traveling worldwide and photography and has exhibited photographs. Reveres his God, family, his profession, friends, and associates.
