Ruth B Wilcox 99, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday evening, March 10th, 2019 in Worthington, Ohio. Born in Akron, Ohio, Ruth grew up in Dublin where she met and married her soul mate Stanley Wilcox who passed away in 2009. Living on their farm on Smokey Row Rd, Ruth and Stan became very involved in their community and their church. Ruth worked for many years in the Worthington School district as the head cook in the school cafeteria, where she spoiled many a student and staff, as well as some straggler farm hands. Ruth loved to travel around the U.S. with her husband in their motor home, and made many friends along the way. After retiring from the farming life, Ruth and Stan moved to south Florida in the 1970’s where they enjoyed their golden years in Atlantis. After losing her only daughter, Shirley, in 1998, Ruth and Stan moved to NC to be close to their granddaughter Danielle and her family. They would then move back to Worthington, Ohio in 2006 to live with Danielle’s family. Ruth was the last surviving member of the Dublin High School class of 1937. Ruth was a very generous and loving wife, friend and Grandmother who loved to cook, play cards and collect antiques. She amazed friends and family with her incredible memory and vivid stories through the years. She will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to know her.
Ruth is survived by her Grand-daughter, Danielle Boudreault and Danielle’s husband Michael Boudreault; Great Grand-daughter, Kayla Boudreault; Great Grand-son Christopher Boudreault; sister, Wanda Jewett of Columbus, Ohio; niece, Nancy Custer and husband Gus of Columbus, Ohio; nephews, Henry Shuster and Rick Spence of Columbus, Ohio and many other grand nephews and nieces.
Visiting hours will be Friday March 15th from 10am-12noon at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home 515 High Street Worthington, Ohio 43085 with a small graveside ceremony to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery 5561 Milton Ave Worthington, Ohio 43085.
