Violet was born to Clyte and Alfred Jardine in Pasadena, California. Older brother, henry, joined in the welcome to the family. She grew up in that beautiful southern California town and attended Broad Oks Jr. College and then College. In her journal during the Broad Oaks years she tells of dating Jack Whieldon, her future husband. After those years, they went different ways; she to Whittier and he to CalTech. It was while sister, Mary Alyce, told him that she had seen Violet at the beach with her students and that she was still quite lovely and unattached and that he should contact her. They married in 1941 after Dad finished medical school. Then they moved to SanFrancisco for his resiency where Thomas and Annalee were born. Upon being drafted into the US Army, Dad was sent to Yale University to join a team doing research on the effects of pilots flying bombers at high altitude. After the war ended, Dad took a position in Alaska; and Mom was part of the adventure of living in the remote frontier town of Valdez, where Dad was the doctor for the hospital there. After two years in Alaska, adventure, which included the birth and death of a daughter, Margaret, the young family, including Tom and Annalee, moved back to Pasadena where Dad continued his residency in eurology at CalTech. A few years later, Dad decided to take a residency in psychiatry and that took the family to Worthington, Ohio, where Charles was born two years later. Dad died there in 1978. In 1982, Mom married Kelly Hartman and they had 18 wonderful years together until his death in 2000. Mom lived in Worthington until 2004 when whe moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, to live with daughter, Annalee, and son-in-law, Dennis for most of a year, until she moved to Santa Cruz to live with Tom until her death. The last five years that Mom lived with Tom in Santa Cruz, California, was right on the Pacific Ocean. She went to church with Tom and Neli and enjoyed concerts, visits from friends, watching beautiful sunsets, and taking long walks along West Cliff drive. She is survived by her three children, Thomas Whieldon; Annalee Carlson; and Charles Whieldon; step-children Gary Hartman, Eileen Kunkle, and Mark Hartman (deceased); grandchildren Laura Yee, Jonathan Carlson, Julie Brown, Esther Whieldon, Timothy Whieldon, Joan Whieldon, Lara Robinson, and Alli Kunkle; and great grandchildren, Kiera Yee, Nathan Yee, Kiana Yee, Antoni Carlson, Estelle Carlson, Frances Ovens, and Caden Robinson.
