Daisy Elizabeth Louise Wehr, age 102, of Sunbury, died March 28, 2018 at Country View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on November 14, 1915 in Bellevue, Ohio, the daughter of the late John and Hazel Kern. She was a graduate of Bellevue High School. On August 13, 1939 she married the love of her life Walter Ward Wehr. They lived in Bellevue, Sandusky, Findlay, Zanesville and happily settled in Worthington, Ohio. They were married for 49 years before his passing in 1989. Daisy worked for many years as an office receptionist for Dr. Richard Wehr (no relation). She was loved by many during her years in Food Service for Worthington Schools and retired in 1984. Daisy and Wally owned and operated 13 rental cottages on Pelee Island (Ontario, Canada) from mid-1960s to 2010. She made many boat trips there in rough Lake Erie waters while wearing her life jacket and holding a Manhattan in her hand. She loved entertaining and was always the life of every party. She was lovingly known as the last of the “Pelee Island Dancing Girls”. She and Wally were big Buckeye fans and always made the trip up north for the OSU-Michigan games. She played a lot of Bingo during her stay in assisted living and nursing homes and was always proud to say “I won 25 cents today!” Most important was her role as wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. If you asked Daisy what she wanted for dinner, she would say “Manhattans, shrimp cocktail and steak”. She will be greatly missed by her children Melonie (Kent) Tyler of Columbus and Lynn (Criss) of Delaware; grandchildren, Nicole Griffin, Andrew Wehr (Neeley), Colin Tyler and Kyle Tyler; great-grandchildren, Kayla Tyler, Jacob Wehr, Madison Griffin, Lilly Wehr, Dominic Tyler, and Mason Griffin. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Ruth Wise, Kenneth (Jane) Kern, Leona (Leo) Martin and June (Chuck) Gerber and stepfather John Cooley.
