Cordula Thurow Verhoek, of Worthington, February 9, 1998 at home. Daughter of Rev. Gotthold M. & Louise Miller Thurow. Received Bachelor's & Master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught German & French in the high schools in Neenah and Spooner, Wis. before her marriage. 56 year resident of Worthington. She was a former officer of the Unversity Women's Club, the Worthington Garden Club, the Colonial Hills School PTA, current member of Worthington Womens Club, and former member of Worthington Activitiew Club. She was active in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and Gethsemane Lutheran Church, and at the former King of King's Lutheran Church, Westerville, teaching and serving as superintendent in the Sunday School, and helping to found the latter two congregations. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Frank H. Verhoek, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at The Ohio State University; daughters Susan (Stephen) Williams of Palmyra, Penn., Helen (Larry) Yarbrough, Evansville, Ill., Louise (Richard)
Shiels, Granville, Oh.; grandchildren, Gwendolyn Yarbrough and Emily Williams; 5 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 1 brother. Funeral service Friday, Feb- ruary 13, 1998 at 10 a.m. at he Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 766 S. High St, Columbus. Rev. Peter Reetz officiating. Friends may greet the family after the service until 12:00 p.m. Burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Church. Arrangements by Rutherford-Corbin.
