SUNDERLAND Willis Ward Sunderland, 81, of Worthington, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007 at home. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a graduate of Worthington High School, Class of 1945 and Franklin University. Willis retired from Battelle Memorial Institute after 42 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Dorothy V. Sunderland; children, Julie (Paul) Cron of Powell, Stephen (Denise) Sunderland of Columbus, Laurie (Bob) Mayhew of Gahanna; and step-son, Victor Ruehl of Groveport; grandchildren, Stephanie (Mark) Stevens, Mark (Allyson) Cron, Stacy Sunderland, Andy and Rob Mayhew; great-grandchildren, Madison, Alexandria and Colton Stevens, Austin Hassel, Luke and Noah Cron, Caleb Sunderland and Jordan Mayhew; his brother, Raymond (Zella) Sunderland; and sister, Rose Marie O'Brien; many nieces, nephews, and close friends; He was preceded in death by his first wife Jean E. (Trippett) Sunderland, and parents George E. and Nora L. (Muncie) Sunderland. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085, where the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2007.
