Preceded in death by brother, James Ewing Scatterday, D.V.M. Survived by wife, Mary E. Scatterday; daughters, Carolyn Bennett, Marylon and Douglas Alexander; grandsons, Douglas Gillespie Alexander, Andrew Llewellyn Alexander; step-grandsons, Thomas Ira Bennett, Lloyd Gerald Bennett; brother, Henry Floyd Scatterday, D.O., Westerville; sisters, Elizabeth Ellen McGurer and Susan Jane Scatterday; sister-in-law, Naomi W. Scatterday; many nieces and nephews. Member of Worthington United Methodist Church, New England Lodge #4 F.&A.M., Worthington Chapter # 287 OES, Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, Aladdin Shrine, Phi Sigma Gamma professional fraternity, life member of the American Osteopathic Association, life member of the Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology and Oto-Rhino-Laryngology. Past president of Central Ohio Osteopathic Society. Chief of staff of Doctors Hospital 1941 and 1942, senior surgical staff member and staff member emeritus at Doctors Hospital. Attended Worthington Schools, graduating in 1921. received medical degree from Des Moines-Still College if Osteopathy and his specialty in Ophthalmology and Oto-Rhino-Laryngology from Los Angeles College of Physicians and Surgeons. Life member of the Worthington Historical Society. Funeral service 1;00 p.m. Tuesday October 19, 1993 at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN CHAPEL, 515 High St., Worthington. Rev. Robert K. Chiles officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7=9 p.m. Monday. OES service at 8:00 p.m. Masonic service at follow. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Worthington United Methodist Church and Doctors Hospital Development Fund or the Shrine Burn Hospitals in his memory.
