SARLE Ruth Mickel Sarle, age 73, died Thursday October 7, 2004 of cancer. She was born August 1, 1931 in Parkersburg, W. Va. to Mina and Evart Mickel. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, received a B.S. from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1953, and a master's degree from Indiana University. She came to the Columbus area as Assistant Dean of Women for Capital University. She retired from her position as Educational Consultant (State Supervisor) for the Ohio Department of Education in the Consumer-Homemaking section in 1992. She was an active member of the Worthington United Methodist Church, Worthington Historical Society, Worthington Historical Society, Worthington Women's Club, Alpha Gamma Delta, and life member of numerous professional organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan R. Sarle and brother Ralph Mickel. She is survived by her two sons and their families, Dr. Perry Sarle, daughter-in-law Dr. Jean Kelly, and granddaughters Eleanor, Margaret and Evelyn of Galena; Edward Sarle, daughter-in-law Dr. Sumiko Sarle, and granddaughter Amy of Oakwood, Ohio. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Richard Sarle, Auburn, Maine and Rodney Sarle, Brunswick, Maine; sister-in-law Jo Scholl Mickel, Greensburg, Penn.; and several nieces and nephews and their families. She wished to be remembered as a believer whose faith was built on a loving dedication to her family. Even after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1977, she lived life with an ever-present sense of humor, a generous heart, and the unwavering belief that each day was a miracle and every morning a rehearsal for the resurrection. Friends may call in the chapel of the Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High St., Worthington (via north entrance) on Monday, October 11, 4-7 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the church on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Worthington United Methodist Church, Worthington Historical Society, Ohio State University Fund #642100 (Family and Consumer Sciences Education Program Fund) or a charity of their choice.
