RAMSEY Esther Alice Ramsey, 99, of Lakeside, Ohio and formerly of Columbus, Ohio died of natural causes on July 21, 2009 at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center, Lakeside, Ohio. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jane (Jim) Young of Alpharetta, Ga.; sons, Don (Marcia) Ramsey of Amherst, Ohio and Ray (Laurie) Ramsey of Cave Crook, Ariz.; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Esther was born in Tiffin, Ohio and graduated from Heidelberg College in 1932. She taught English at Mt. Zion High School in Bucyrus, Ohio. She was a member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School and was a member of the prayer group before joining Linworth Baptist Church where she assisted with the Moppet, and Awana groups. She was a long time member and board member of Clintonville Women's Club, an advocate for family values for Eagle Forum, wrote a social column for the Clintonville Booster, and a family movie rating column for The Columbus Dispatch. She was a member of Gideon Wives, WCTU, DAR and United Church Women. Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Leland Ramsey in 1985, a 42 year employee of Nationwide Insurance, her parents Walter and Grace (Keller) Rohrer of Tiffin, and brother Ray Rohrer of Vero Beach, Fla. Graveside services and burial will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Walnut Grove Cemetery, 5561 Milton Ave, Worthington, Ohio followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m. at Linworth Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to be sent to Linworth Baptist Church, 6200 Linworth Road, Linworth, Ohio, 43085.
