Pinney Michael Abner Pinney, of Dublin, left this earth on September 12, 2013 just before his 44th birthday after a courageous, two-year battle against pancreatic cancer without surgical intervention. He joins his father Abner, his beloved dog, Ginger, grandparents James and Evelyn Yonk and Lella and Abner Pinney, uncle George Ward and step-father Allen Freck, who preceded him in death. Michael leaves behind his mother, Bonnie Stewart Freck; wife and witness to his life, Angela Pace Pinney; daughter, Sophia; step-son, Caden Ozbun; the Ward family, the Pace family and many wonderful friends. A lifelong resident of Columbus, Michael graduated from Centennial High School before attending college at the University of Cincinnati. Michael's love of technology drove him to a fulfilling career in the realm. He spent his working life and, often, his free time teaching and assisting others when it came to the latest gadgetry or technological innovation. Michael's love of travel, adventure, and technology introduced him to the hobby of geocaching, which forever touched his family's life by opening their eyes to hidden treasures, secret quests and everlasting friendships. Upon his cancer diagnosis, Michael vowed to fight and live life to the fullest - making the most of his dash. In the last three years of his life Michael and his family traveled to 35 states and three countries. He experienced the joys of fatherhood, witnessing and celebrating the birth and first birthday of his red-haired daughter, who lights up a room. He finally got the red convertible he always wanted and zoomed his way through the "Tail of the Dragon" and on many adventures near and far. A kind and generous friend, he always put others before himself. His quick wit and never-give-up attitude left a lasting impression on all who met him. He will be greatly missed, but leaves behind a legacy in his children and those who loved him. Family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, Ohio 43085, where a Funeral Service will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 20 with processional and interment to follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington. A celebration of his life is planned at the family home later this month. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made at any Huntington National Bank to the Michael A Pinney Memorial Fund.
