Miller Jerry L. Miller went home to his Lord on January 28, 2014. He was born on December 8, 1933, and was preceded in death by father Herbert B. Miller (Millar, the Magician) and mother Arnetta (his dad's lovely assistant), special grandmother Ida Nightingale, cherished uncle Roy, son Greg Miller, and beloved wife Anita Miller, who led him to Christ, supported him in his growth and development and left him with love in his heart and joy-filled expectancy. Survived by children of first marriage, Danny, Mark, Jeff (Susan) and Laura (Brian Hart) Miller; children of second marriage, Shirlee (David) Dowden and Ryan (Jennifer) Miller. He is also survived by his beautiful and adoring wife, Gerrie. He said that she brought joy, fulfillment and a love to a life that he thought was over. But it was the love that Anita passed on to him as part of her legacy. Gerrie inspired him to finish his studies to become a Presbyterian Lay Pastor and later a Licensed Minister of the Disciples of Christ. Jerry said that their love story was an incredible journey that met all of the challenges and joys of their wedding vows. He often said that he was the luckiest man on the face of the earth. His passions included foremost serving others in need, family outings with his children and step-children, Marci (Donny) Skeen, Jenny (Alan) Rusnak, and Kelly (Eric) Nagel. Gerrie and Jerry's blended family, including 18 grandchildren, were close for those who chose to honor their relationship. He enjoyed reading, "lively" political and theological discussions, and traveling. Jerry served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his insurance career, which included senior Vice President of Berwanger Overmyer Insurance, he directed a consulting company; served as Executive Director of the Columbus Metropolitan Area Church Council, pastor of the Jersey Presbyterian Church, Hospice Chaplain, chaplain for two health care centers and was chaplain and co-founder of the Helping Hands Free Clinic. He was currently serving Karl Road Christian Church as an Elder and Commissioned Minister. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 15, at 1:30 p.m., at Karl Road Christian Church, 5400 Karl Rd., Columbus. Pastor Margaret Connor officiating. Family will receive friends beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Karl Road Christian Church Memorial Fund or the Helping Hands Health and Wellness Center, 1421 Morse Rd., Columbus. His message to you: forgive others so you can forgive yourself and serve others in the name of Jesus Christ. Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, Worthington, OH.
