From "Westerville Public Opinion," May 7, 1896
Mrs. Hanil [sic] Martin died at Worthington, O, April 28, 1896. Deceased was born June 5th, 1824. Mrs. Martin was the daughter of Ansel Mattoon, after whom the town of Mattoon, in Illinois, was called, where he lived in later life. Mrs. Martin spent all her life in Worthington, being born and dying in the same house. She was for thirty-eight years a consistent member of the Presbyterian church. Her husband, 2 sons, and 3 daughters survive her, "who rise up and call her blessed." She was greatly beloved in the home, in the church and community for her many virtues. She was laid to rest in the Worthington cemetery, the funeral services conducted by her pastor, Rev. H. P. McAdam, were largely attended on April 30th, 1896 from her home.
