KYRE Bernard Adams Kyre, 80, of Columbus, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011. He was born March 6, 1931 in Nelsonville, moved to Columbus at the age of five, and was a 1950 graduate of Central High School. Bernie served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Forward Observer in the 121st Infantry, Charlie Company. He retired from Westinghouse. Bernie was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church, former member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, and charter member of Living Christ Lutheran church. He was a member of Southgate Potter #782 F. & A.M., York Temple R.A.M, and the Columbus Valley Scottish Rite. Bernie was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife and two sons, and adored his grandchildren. He was the former Boy Scout Master of Troop #2, loved fishing and working on cars with his sons, square dancing with his wife, and watching baseball. Preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Mabel Kyre, Bernie will be missed by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy; sons, Thomas Kyre and Jaymes (Jennifer) Kyre; grandchildren, JAK and Shannon; and sister, Louise (Eddie) McCauley. Family will receive friends Monday, April 18, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Pastor Tim Muller, officiating. Interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
