Martha was born in Columbus on June 12, 1921 and died at Abbington of Arlington on August 24, 2016. She had celebrated her 95th birthday in June with her children and brother. Martha was a graduate of The Ohio State University with a B.S. in education. She taught elementary students in their formative years for twenty years in the Columbus Public School system. She was a life-long member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, the PEO Sisterhood, the Clintonville Women’s Club, Twigs for Children’s Hospital and belonged to Maple Grove Methodist Church for over fifty years. She loved butterflies and flowers and was known as “The Butterfly Lady” by friends and family. She was a wonderful daughter, mother and grandmother. She lived her life with goodness, kindness, grace and beauty. She loved her family and gave that love freely, leaving them with memories and values to treasure throughout life. She lived by the Golden Rule and never spoke unkindly of anyone. She will be missed by all who knew her and will live on through all of us. Martha is survived by her children, Carolyn, Gregg and Steve Patch, and by her brother Dave Dobson. She is also survived by a niece, nephew and three grandchildren. Calling hours are from 3 until 5pm on Sunday, August 28th, at Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington. The service will be on Monday, August 29th, at 2pm at the funeral home. The burial will be after the service at Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you choose, you may make a contribution in her memory to the P.E.O. Foundation. The address is P.E.O.
