Barbara “Babs” Dee Davis Hill, 89, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, with family at her bedside. Babs was born on December 8th, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL to Marguerite LaVern Hillhouse Davis and James Davis. Babs graduated from Monticello College in 1955 with a Certificate of Arts. She married the love of her life, James Jay Hill, on June 22,1955. They shared a wonderful life together, especially raising their 3 sons. If you asked Babs about her proudest achievements, she would name her 3 boys.

Babs worked as a realtor in the Columbus, Ohio metropolitan area from 1979-2008. She loved helping others, keeping up on decorating trends, and her office potlucks. Babs’ favorite times were spent with family and friends. A kitchen or patio table, a pot of coffee, laughter and good company were heaven to Babs. She also loved music, cats, the St. Louis Cardinals, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and the many sporting events she attended to cheer on her grandchildren. Babs is survived by her sons: James (Aiko) of Los Altos, CA; John (Shirin) of Leesburg, VA; and Jack (Peggy) of Terre Haute, IN.

In addition, Babs leaves her 10 grandchildren: Aichan, James Jay III, Elizabeth, Kie (Jack) Hirsch, Melissa, John (April), Cannon, Megan, Tatum, and Liam; 4 great-grandchildren: James, Ainsley, Levi, and Nomi; her sister and lifelong best friend, Nancy Lee Davis Wessel, of Millstadt IL, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; and her brothers, Leon, John, and James Davis. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 13, 2024 in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Worthington, Ohio with Pastor Betsy Rice officiating. Arrangements are coordinated through Callahan & Hughes Funeral Home, Terre Haute.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations could be shared with the First United Presbyterian Church in Belleville IL, located at 1303 Royal Heights Rd. Belleville, IL 62223. Babs was very active in this church before her move to Terre Haute. She was so proud of her involvement, especially in the committee that selected Pastor Rob.
