GELDER James Tolman Gelder Sr., age 87, passed in his sleep August 20, 2012 at his residence in Houston, TX. Born in Princess Anne, Maryland and resident of Worthington, OH from 1964 to 2010. Preceded in death by wife June R. Gelder (Oct. 1983). Survived by sons, James T. Jr., Dennis A. (Amy) and Glenn S. (Ashli) Gelder; brother, Bob Gelder; grandchildren, Marshall, Jacob and June Gelder. Veteran U.S. Army, WWII, Battle of the Bulge participant and Bronze Star recipient. A proud volunteer for the American Red Cross blood donation centers, logging 6000 volunteer hours over 15 years. Tolman was a 2002 Jefferson Awards nominee and appeared in a TV ad for COAAA. His favorite things were seafood, power-boating, playing bridge and Ocean City, MD. At age 78, he found joy in his first Corvette; a member of Street Elite Corvette Club (OH) and Free State Corvette Club (MD). He touched many lives through his service to our country and his volunteerism. Calling hours 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, followed by a brief service with military honors at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN Funeral Home, 515 High St, Worthington, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Red Cross in Tolmans' memory will be accepted at the service.
