Maryellen Elder, age 83, of Columbus, Tuesday, July 7, 1998 at St. Ann's Hospital, Westeville. Survived by husband, J. Merrel Elder to whom she was married since March 15, 1937; daughters, Julia Elder, Ontario, Calif., Sylvia (Dave) Terrell, Hilliard Ohio. and Cathy (Bob) Smith, Bowling Green, Oh.; granddaughters Diane Godfrey, Karen Evanbar, Vicki Eitle and Heather Whitty; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Alberta Reid, Clearwater, Fla.; nieces, nephews and friends. Member of Worthington United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Member United Methodist Women and Monday Morning Prayer Group. Funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday, July 11 at Rutherford-Corbin Chapel, 515 High St., Worthington. Rev. Alan Sippel officiating. Family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Friends of the Homeless, Inc. or the Interfaith Hospitality Network in her memory. The family wold like to acknowledge the staff of Karrington at Tucker Creek for their excellent attention and care.
