ELDER J. Merrel Elder, age 93, died Saturday, October 11, 2003 at Worthington Christian Village. Retired Service Manager for Jack Maxton Chevrolet after 35 years of service. He is preceded in death by his wife Maryellen Elder to whom he was married March 15, 1937 and his daughter Julia Elder. Merrel is survived his daughters, Sylvia (Dave) Terrell of Hilliard and Cathy (Bob) Smith of Bowling Green, Ohio; granddaughters, Diane Godfrey, Emma Miller, Vicki Eitle and Heather Whitty; 6 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. He was a member of the Worthington United Methodist Church for over 50 years and a member of the Worthington's Men's Fellowship and Griswold Senior Citizens. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 515 High St, Worthington (614)885-4006, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 17, 2003. Rev. Dr. Glen Wheeler officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery.
