Dumaree Elizabeth A. Dumaree, age 78, of Howard, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Autumn Health Care in Mount Vernon. She was born on October 13, 1935 in Urbana, Illinois to the late Dr. Joseph and Elizabeth (Engstrand) Ackerman. Elizabeth was a ten year survivor of Breast Cancer. She was employed as a supervisor for the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department where she worked in many capacities that included; Community Centers, Senior Centers, Chaired the Columbus Arts Festival, Programming for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, Cultural Arts Center and Hostess/Emcee on WTVN TV Show, "Fun for Everyone". Elizabeth had a second career as an Antique Dealer and was a member of the Apple Valley Garden Club. She was also a Volunteer for TWIG, Delaware County Humane Society, Sun Coast Humane Society in Venice, Florida, Interchurch Social Services, Red Cross, Ohio Designer Craftsmen, and was very active in the Knox County- Ohio State University Alumni Association. She is survived by her husband, Roger Dumaree; two daughters, Lynda (Reed) Williams of New Albany, Michelle (Dustin Givens) Wolfel of Marengo; her son, Roger (Lisa) Dumaree of Camarillo, CA; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister, Sara (Paul) Jones of Greensboro, NC; and two brothers, John (Krista) Ackerman of Sanger, TX, and Allan (Sandy) Ackerman of Las Vegas, NV. Besides her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her grandson Ryan Williams. Friends may call on Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the FLOWERS-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME (619 E. High St., Mount Vernon). A celebration of life service will follow beginning at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Wildermuth officiating. The family will observe a private graveside service at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Columbus.
