Samuel T. Daykin, of 6560 Worthington-Galena Rd., Friday, February 20, Riverside Hospital. Survived by wife, Marcella; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kataline, of Los Angeles, Calif.; daughter, Susan, of New York City; brother and wife, Jason and Eileen, of Taylorville, Ill. Professor Daykin was a native of Taylorville, Ill. Studied law at Northwestern University, then worked 8 years as a sociologist-actuary for the Pardon and Parole Board of State of Illinois. Received Master's and Doctorate Degrees in Social Work from Washington University, in St. Louis. Called to active duty in the US Army in 1940 and, the next 20 years were spent working with troubled youth. Retired from the Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1960. The following year he joined the faculty of the OSU School of Social Work. His main concern was the cause and prevention of juvenile delinquency. Retired as Professor Emeritus in 1977. Member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Phi Beta Capa Fraternities. One of first board members of Buckeye Boys' Ranch. Honorary Board Member of SOS Children's Village. Service 1:30 p.m. Monday, Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington. Private interment Walnut Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to friends of SOS Children's Village Inc., 424 Madison Ave., New York, NY 10017. Friends are welcome to call at the home, 6560 Galena Rd., after the service.
