Charles A. Coppola, age 97, of Worthington Ohio, died August 20, 2016 at Kobacker House, Columbus. A former Branch Manager, after 23 years he retired as District Manager, Financial Systems Marketing, from N.C.R. Corporation in 1975. A veteran of U.S. Coast Guard, World War II. He enlisted as an apprentice seaman and by war’s end was accepted to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. He was honorably discharged as a Chief Petty Officer and later served as a staff officer in the Merchant Marine. He was a life member of VFW Post 2398 in Worthington. He earned an A.B. degree at Valparaiso University and an M.B.A. at the University of Michigan. An Eagle Scout, Explorer Post Leader, Scoutmaster and Troop Committeeman affiliated with Troop 197, Throgg’s Neck, N.Y.C., he chartered the first Explorer Post in Bronx County in 1938. Preceded in death by his wife, Lois Koester Coppola in 2008 and his great grandson, Riley Lawyer, he is survived by his children Carol, Claire, Chuck and Daniel as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Dublin, Ohio. Memorial service 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 25th at St. John Lutheran Church, 6135 Rings Rd., Dublin, Ohio. Family will receive friends at 6607 Evening Street, Worthington from 2pm to 4pm on August 25th, 2016.
