Robert (Bob) Chosy, 89, of Worthington, OH, passed away on April 10, 2024. Born the youngest of six children to the late Julia and John Chosy on December 7, 1934, Bob and his siblings grew up on the South Side of Columbus at 239 Southwood Avenue, the house in which he was born. He graduated from South High School in 1952 and earned his BA and M.D. degrees from The Ohio State University, the latter in 1959. After his internship at Mount Carmel Hospital, he served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Officer for 3 years. He then completed his specialty training at Mount Carmel and Dayton’s Good Samaritan Hospitals in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Bob’s dedication as an OB-GYN in Worthington spanned three decades, alongside his invaluable contributions in the Labor and Delivery Department at Riverside Hospital.

Bob’s extraordinary doctor-patient relationships were characterized by his genuine care and commitment, often going above and beyond to ensure each patient felt heard and understood. Despite frequently running behind schedule, it was his unwavering dedication to fostering meaningful connections that set him apart. Bob served his beloved city of Worthington as a member of the Board of Zoning Appeal (BZA), 1977-1983, the Municipal Development Commission (MDC), 1983-1989 and from 1995-2015 on the Worthington City Council. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Cemetery Board and a member of the Worthington AME Church Foundation. Bob had a reputation as an outspoken man of rare honesty and integrity. He was a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church and various medical organizations.

Bob loved his family and enjoyed traveling, gardening, photography, writing and was, early on, an active member of the Player’s Club of Columbus where his favorite role was playing George in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. He was preceded in death by parents, John and Julia Chosy and siblings, Eugene, Emma, Irene, Julius and Louis. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy, who was the perfect balance to his personality and put up with a lot. He is also survived by his children: Angela Garbin, Tina (Frank) Garbin, Lora (Darren) Ackerman, Julia Chosy, Jay (Lorna) Chosy, Becky (Calvin) Rose, Bob L. (Pam) Chosy and Clifford Chosy; and grandchildren: Bailey, Thomas, Oliver, Kevin, Sparkle, Enza, Nicolas, Stephen, Chris, Jenny, Corey, Ria, Cory and Jessyca and many loved great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington on Saturday, April 20 at 2:30 p.m.; Celebration of Life to follow.
