Carl Louis Bryant, 87. Saturday, October 24 (United Nations Day) at Danbury Senior Living Columbus, Ohio. Born Jan. 12, 1928 in Columbus, OH. Preceded in death by Jean Isabelle Willman Bryant, his loving wife of 54 years, Helene Petersen Bryant, daughter-in law.
Survived by children, Carl II (Pamela) Bryant Ft. Belvoir, VA; John (Janie) Bryant Mt. Vernon, OH; Mary (Steve) Roediger Albany, OH; Ruth (Ron) White Dublin, OH; Yvon (Tom) Davis, Dublin, OH; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; many friends and family. Carl and Jean were married August 1, 1948 in Hartford City, IN - a double wedding ceremony with Jean's identical twin sister, June Arabelle and Lloyd Miller. Carl graduated in 1946 from McClain High School in Greenfield, OH. Served in the. U.S. Navy then worked at Buckeye Union, Wolverine, and Transamerica Insurance companies before jumping into the travel industry in 1969.
Carl was Adjutant for American Legion Franklin Post, and also volunteered for the State Highway Patrol Auxiliary. Carl was a long time resident of the Village of Riverlea where he served 3 terms as Village Councilman. He was President of the Worthington Area Chamber of Commerce in 1974. Carl served as President and Secretary of the Kiwanis Club of Northern Columbus. Member of La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux, aka The 40 & 8.
Carl was President and Partner of Escort Travel, the first travel agency in Worthington. He owned and operated The Travel Market in Columbus OH with Jean from 1976 - 1986. They became world travelers, and especially loved to cruise! He was a life member of the Century Club, awarded for traveling to over 100 countries. Carl also co-owned AIMES Travel School 1982 - 1991. He became a Certified Travel Consultant (CTC) in 1980 and was a lifetime member of Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA) as well as a member of Skal International.
Member of American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), served as Mid-America Chapter President 1985-1988, National Director of ASTA Area 7, 1988-1991. National Finance Committee 1985-1992,1994-1999. Director AMSI, 1993-1994. Carl was a member of the Hospitality Management Advisory Board at Columbus State Community College. Carl and Jean authored over 300 word find puzzles in their retirement. He was a passionate reader, stamp collector and money man, lifetime member of National Geographic Society. Carl was well known as the guy in the bow tie, for always wearing a business suit, his humor, practical jokes, cartoons and his 2,900 plus meals at Bravo Crosswoods. Special thanks to our friends at Danbury who so graciously cared for our dad the past 5 months. A terrific staff who will always remain special to us!

Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 31 at 11am, Rutherford Corbin Funeral Home, 515 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085 where family will receive friends beginning at 10am. Private inurnment at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
