BANGS Kenneth Leon Bangs "Ken", age 93, longtime resident of Worthington, died May 15, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Veteran U.S. Army Air Corps, WWII. Preceded in death by his wife Ada D. Survived by his children, Pat (Roger) Spreen, Larry Bangs, Roger (Beth) Bangs of W. Lafayette, Ind., Suzanne (Korhan) Sevenler of Fairport, N.Y.; grandchildren, Loraine and Roger Spreen, Caitlin and Connor Bangs, Alec and Brian Bangs, Derin and Serra Sevenler; sister, Una Joyce of Ft. Wayne, Ind. Member of Worthington United Methodist Church, Founding Member and Past President of Worthington Lions Club and Past President of Worthington Chamber of Commerce. Ken and his WWII bride, Ada, of Manchester, England, enjoyed 60 years of marriage, during which they enjoyed their family. Ken owned two Dairy Queen franchises and became a mentor to the many young students he employed over 30 plus years. He loved his community and was committed to "giving back" through his many charitable activities, including his business and Lions Club. During his retirement he enjoyed traveling with Ada, friends and family throughout the US and abroad. After retirement, he took up golf but probably enjoyed the camaraderie of his golf partners more. He and his wife spent many winters in the Ft. Myers, Fla. area with friends. His love, compassion and humor will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, Oh. 43085. Memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Wesley Glen in the Longsworth Auditorium, 5155 N. High Street, Columbus, 43214.
