ALKIRE Ivor "Gene" Alkire born December 24, 1922, passed away May 6. 2009 at Friendship Village. Gene was a U.S. Army Veteran, a longtime member of Columbus Transportation Club. He retired as President of Yale Distribution and Storage and Kingcraft Distribution and Storage. Gene was a member of Grove City United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Alkire. Survivors include his daughter, Kimberlee (Bruce) Williams of Cincinnati; grandsons, Brady and Kevin Williams; son, Kevin (Lori) Alkire of Columbus; sister, Jane Hinton; nieces, Judy Wolfe and Linda Thompson of Circleville. Special love and thanks for the love and care from Laura Rice, Gayle and Don Meredith and Ted and Caryl Rice. Friends may visit on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 2697 Columbus St., Grove City, where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Wayne Stuntz officiating. Interment Walnut Grove Cemetery.
