Donald W. Alexander, age 91 of Worthington, Ohio, passed away at The Landings of Lancaster Assisted Living facility in Lancaster, Ohio, on Friday, December 22, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 15, 1926. After graduating from Worthington High School, he married his life-long sweetheart Geraldine J (Hopkins) Alexander on August 31, 1947. Donald spent the major part of his life behind the wheel of an eighteen-wheeler where he delivered freight to nearly every city in the state of Ohio. This is where the majority of his “animated” stories were born, which he was more than happy to share with anyone who would listen. After more than 25 years driving tractor trailers he retired and spent some part-time hours delivering parts for a local Cadillac dealership (Crestview Cadillac of Dublin). Donald loved family gatherings and if they could be held in his garage life could be no better. Donald is survived by his seven children, Mark (Diane) Alexander, Kay (Robert) Crawford, Dee (Pete) McCune, David (Debbie) Alexander, Jeff (Stacey) Alexander, Lyn (Mike) Distel and Lori (Steve) Roseberry. Donald was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends that will miss him dearly. Donald is preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Geraldine J. Alexander, his parents, Allan and Mary Alexander and brother, Richard Alexander. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Landings of Lancaster and Fairhope Hospice of Lancaster for their care and support through this difficult time. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 29, at 10:00 am at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington Ohio, where friends may call Thursday, December 28th between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00pm.
